Yesterday, Rockstar Games surprised everyone by dropping the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 without any previous announcements. As one might expect, this has caused fans to catch GTA 6 fever once again.

The appeal of Grand Theft Auto 6 is so massive that it has even pulled up the Pointer Sisters’ Hot Togther song, which was used in the trailer.

Hot Together Song Sizzles As Numbers Spike On Spotify

On the music streaming app Spotify, the 1986 song went up at an unbelievable 182,000% in the two hours following the trailer’s premiere.

Spotify’s Global Head of Editorial Sulinna Ong gave a statement about it (via IGN), “Grand Theft Auto cuts through popular culture like almost nothing else. Music has been synonymous with the series since the very beginning, so it’s great to see fans both new and established connecting with an iconic track in this way.”

Since the trailer launched, it has been watched over 80 million times on Rockstar Games’ official channel. It doesn’t even factor in the re-uploads and social media engagement as well. Of course, old songs being thrust into the spotlight is nothing new, as we’ve seen it happen in Stranger Things’ use of “Running Up That Hill” by Kate Bush see a massive spike after the Netflix show used it for key moments in Season 4. Even the first GTA 6 trailer managed this as well when it featured Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road” and it saw a massive boost in Spotify streams too.

Legendary Developer Confirms GTA 6 Is Affecting Release Dates

We all had a feeling that Grand Theft Auto 6 was looming over the industry, and now we have confirmation.

Aside from the new trailer, Rockstar also unloaded a ton of new screenshots and info, which fans will want to see to know more about the upcoming megaton release.

If you thought the second trailer looked a little too good, Rockstar has some good news: the developers confirmed they are all in-game running on a base PS5, and no high-end PC trickery was afoot.

Hopefully, we won’t have to wait for more than a year before hearing more about GTA 6, lest Rockstar plans to release the game without much fanfare. Mind you, it really wouldn’t matter, as this game will set sales records once it’s released on May 26, 2025 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
