Dragon’s Dogma 2: Endgame, Explained
Wondering what the endgame in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is all about. We’ll explain everything in this guide.
Knowing what to do after finishing the main story can be a bit less straightforward than the experience you had leading up to the end. Here are the most important things you should do after beating the game.
11 Normal Ending Checklist
Tying Up Loose Ends Before The Credits Roll
After defeating the final boss and the credits finish, you’ll get the option to load from your past Inn save, which is going to be before you hunted down the main dragon. Since you know where the end of the game is now, you can always come back and do it again when you are ready.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Solve The Sphinx’s Riddles
You’ll have to answer 10 riddles in order to claim all the prizes the Sphinx has to offer. Here are all the Sphinx riddle solutions in DD2.
In the meantime, make the most of loading the last Inn save. You can finish up any open-ended quests, continue exploring and filling out the map, level up your Vocations and overall level, and hunt down more rare gear or the remaining drakes that you haven’t defeated.
10 Reach The Unmoored World
Defy Fate And Jump Into The Endgame Experience
If you aren’t satisfied with the way the story wraps up, during the credits, you can also choose to speak to the Pathfinder, who will be sitting at the table in front of your throne. When you speak to him, it will interrupt the credits, and he will insinuate that you are not satisfied even after getting the most desirable outcome possible.
Once this cutscene ends, speak to him again, and he will take you back to the beginning of the fight with the final dragon. While riding on the dragon’s back, you will be able to trigger a different outcome by crawling onto his chest and stabbing yourself with the Godsbane Blade. This causes both you and the dragon to fall to your deaths and ultimately leads you to the Unmoored World, an apocalyptic version of the world you’ve known thus far, also known as the endgame.
9 Unlock The True Ending
The Satisfying Conclusion To The Story
Now that you are in the Unmoored World, the entire game begins to function as a pseudo roguelite. Without ever learning this directly, the whole endgame gets put on an invisible countdown as you race to save everyone before the world is destroyed.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Unlock The True Ending
Just like the original Dragon’s Dogma, DD2 has multiple endings. Here’s how you can unlock the true ending of the game.
As the fog spreads across the world, a red beacon will show up in each main area. You’ll need to dispel the looming threat in each area and evacuate the people in order to continue down the path to the true ending. Successfully taking down each beacon and the Unmoored dragons that follow will trigger the true ending of the game and open up the path into NG+.
8 Do The Endgame Right
Take Your Time And Explore
Despite the roguelite time crunch and general uneasiness you will feel as you run around the world, defeating dragons and saving the locals, it is important that you make the most of your time here and see everything there is to see. The world as a whole is very different now. There are entirely new areas opened up since all the water found in rivers, lakes, and oceans has been drained. Returning to areas you have previously crossed many times feels foreign, and there are new paths to take, enemies to face, and secrets to find, so make sure you take the time to explore.
So long as you avoid resting at an Inn, you can prolong much of the devastation. And after you have familiarized yourself with everything and know what you want to do with the time you have, you can always choose to die. Doing so will give you the option to restart from the beginning of your most recent day in the Unmoored World, or go back to when you first Awakened there. This means that despite you being on a countdown timer, you can still rest assured that there is a way to reset it all and plot a better path through the endgame as you strive for the true ending.
7 Become A Professional Dragon Hunter
Farming The Endgame Drakes And Dragons
Not only are there new dragon types in the Unmoored World, but there are also lesser dragons scattered throughout the world as well. Both dragon types will give you WLC upon defeating them, which makes the endgame a really great opportunity to collect a ton of rare WLC before heading into New Game Plus.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Beat Drakes
Whether you call them drakes or dragons doesn’t matter. These monsters are as formidable as they are rewarding. Here’s how to take them down.
The Unmoored Dragons will be tied to the red beacons you see all over the map, but you’ll need to re-explore the rest of the map to find all the lesser dragons that have showed up and claim their resources. We will also be mapping out where to find them in our All Drake Locations guide, so be sure to follow along there.
6 Collect All Dragon Weapons And Armor
Get Your Dragon Hunting Gear
One of the best things that comes with the endgame is a plethora of new weapons and armor made available by the Dragonforged. You’ll need to collect a lot of WLC in order to purchase it all, but since you will be spending some time hunting down the dragons in the world, you’ll be able to at least get all the weapons and armor that matter most to you before moving on.
In order to make the most of the WLC farming and collect as many dragon weapons and armor pieces as possible, we recommend completing each of the red beacons and evacuating all the world’s people first. Then, when the final beacon appears at the Seafloor Shrine, avoid it, and you should have essentially infinite time to hunt down all the dragons and buy the remaining gear.
5 Collect All Unique Weapons And Armor
Purchasing All The Rare Loot You Missed
Another benefit of the endgame is many of the most powerful weapons and armor that you could find by exploring the game and completing quests prior to the end will now be available for purchase at all major weapon and armor shops.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: 15 Best Weapons In The Game
Choosing the best weapons in any game is hard. We scoured the world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 to present to you the best weapons available in the game.
Some of the best weapons in the game can be found here, some even put the dragon weapons to shame, so you don’t want to miss out on this opportunity. You may need to complete a few endgame quests or collect gold by killing monsters in order to afford it all, but doing so will really set you up for NG+, so it is well worth your time.
4 Enhance Your Weapons And Armor
Dwarven & Dragonforged Weapon And Armor Enhancements
With the extra WLC you will have access to, you can choose to spend some of it to level up your weapons and armor a fourth time by visiting the Dragonforged found at the Seafloor Shrine.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Enhance Equipment
Players are able to upgrade weapons and armor in Dragon’s Dogma 2; here’s how to do it.
Furthermore, Dwarven weapon and armor enhancements are now available as well, which is something you couldn’t take advantage of before the endgame. Simply visit the Smithy in Bakbattahl and you’ll be able to upgrade anything you want, Dwarven style.
3 Collect Rare Resources
Material Farming Has Never Been Easier
In addition to the WLC you can get from the many dragons, you can also get your hands on loads of Ferrystones, rare ore, and other rare materials like boltscale, all of which were very difficult to acquire before the endgame.
Not only do these resources help you get money and materials for your weapon upgrades, but they will also help you get around the Unmoored World to complete the quest and reach the true ending. Additionally, since all resources will carry over into NG+, this is a great way to stock up on rare resources in advance, which will make your next playthrough much more streamlined.
2 Level Up And Max Out Vocations
God-mode Engaged
While you are completing quests and defeating enemies, you’ll also be able to level up your character, and finish leveling up all Vocations you have yet to complete. Just make sure Warfarer is your selected Vocation as you run around, and you will periodically see all remaining Vocations level up as you defeat enemies and gain xp.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Unlock Warfarer Vocation
The Warfarer is the best Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2; here’s how to get Newt Liqueur and unlock it.
You can also use this time to purchase all remaining weapon skills, core skills, and augments available by visiting the Vocation Guilds. That way, when you start NG+, you’ll be able to play any role with any skill you desire.
1 Collect All Portcrystals
Final Step Before NG+
Since the oceans and rivers have all drained, some Portcrystals that were previously unavailable are now able to be used to quickly travel to all major areas of the map. Because of this, any Portcrystals you placed yourself are likely unnecessary now, which means you can go around and collect them.
Since items are one of the things that carry over into NG+, collecting all the Portcrystals will also ensure you start the new game right with plenty of Portcrystals to place as you make your way across the world again. That, in combination with the bounty of Ferrystones you will be collecting as you complete the Unmoored World means your next playthrough will be one where you can fast travel to your heart’s content, instead of having to slowly run around the world like you did the first time through.
