FromSoftware upped the game when it comes to the openness of Elden Ring, and not just in terms of the game’s world. While there was often an option in their previous games for you to respec your character at some point, Elden Ring gives you a lot more chances to do so through the use of Larval Tears.

These items can be found all around the world, and using one will give you the option to respect your character however you want. So, even if you’ve leveled up to a high level, you can use a Larval Tear to take those Runes you’ve invested and place them in another stat — or in several different ones. There are 18 Larval Tears in total in the game, and knowing where each of them is can be useful to know so you can try something new out with your character. Once you’ve acquired these Larval Tears, you’ll want to visit Queen Rennala to respec your character.

Larval Tear 1 – Southeast Of Argheel Lake

The first Larval Tear that you can find is in Limgrave, to the east of the Argheel Lake South Site of Grace. It is dropped by a Runebear that has disguised itself as a standard enemy. Attacking the enemy will trigger the Runebear to reveal itself, and once you have put it down, you can take the Larval Tear from its corpse.

Larval Tear 2 – Southeast Of Rose Church

The second Tear can be looted off of a giant lobster that you can find between the Rose Church and Boilprawn Shack. Fighting this lobster, it will eventually transform into a grafted enemy that you will need to beat in order to loot the Larval Tear off of it.

Larval Tear 3 – Village Of The Albinaurics

This Tear can be found in the Village of the Albinaurics, lying on the ground in the middle. The village itself can be found underneath the Moonlight Altar plateau, in the southwest corner of Liurnia of the Lakes. It’s hard to miss this Tear as it is lying on the ground, out in the open.

The fourth Larval Tear can be found when you find the place where the Resurrection Painting was made: just east of the Caria Manor near some Albinaurics.

Larval Tear 5 – Purchase From Pidia

You can purchase this Larval Tear from Pidia, a merchant who can be found in Caria Manor. You have to drop off the cliff in the Three Sisters area after completing the Manor, and then you need to work your way down some platforms in order to find the merchant. Pidia will need 3,000 Runes from you in order to purchase it.

Larval Tear 6 – Southwest Caelid

You will find this one in the Caelid area, specifically in the southwest corner of the area. It will be west of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion, where you will find a group of coffins with a bunch of enemies among them. Standing a little ways away is one enemy, who when you attack, will turn into a giant. Take the giant down to get the Larval Tear.

Larval Tear 7 – Siofra River Merchant

Head underground to the Siofra River, where you can find a secret merchant who you can purchase a Larval Tear from for 3,000 Runes. You can find them near the place you fight the Ancestor Spirit. Climb up the scaffolding near the crab enemies and drop down onto the small scaffolding path beneath you to find the merchant.

Larval Tear 8 – Southwest Nokron

You can simply find this Larval Tear in a building in the southwest section of Nokron. It will be laying on the ground, ready for you to loot it.

Larval Tear 9 – Nokron Gazebo

Right after the previous Larval Tear, you will see a gazebo where you can pick this Larval Tear up. It is right before the boss fight with the Mimic Tear in Nokron.

Larval Tear 10 & 11 – Mimic Tear Boss Fight

You will receive both of these Larval Tears when you defeat the Mimic Tear boss in Nokron. The boss itself can be a tough one, but just keep at it, and eventually they will fall, netting you not only these two Tears, but also the Mimic Tear Ashes, which can be incredibly useful throughout the game.

Larval Tear 12 – Night’s Sacred Ground

In the lower section of Nokron, you will find the Night’s Sacred Ground. In one of the buildings here, you will find a giant, metal ball that you can defeat. Defeating this ball will drop the Larval Tear for you to loot.

Larval Tear 13 – Nokstella Bridge

While going through the area of Nokstella, you will come to a bridge where another metal ball will come rolling at you to try and kill you. Once again, defeat this ball to get it to drop the Larval Tear.

Larval Tear 14 – Nokstella Trap Room

Yet again, you are going to find yourself pitted against a metal ball in Nokstella. This time, however, you will be trapped in a room with the ball and some other enemies. Once you have cleared the room and survive, you will be given this Larval Tear.

Larval Tear 15 – End Of Nokstella

This is the last Larval Tear you can get in Nokstella, and you guessed it: it comes from defeating another metal ball. Near the end of the area, it will attack you, so take care of it as you have the others to get this Tear.

Larval Tear 16 – Central Altus Plateau

To the east of the Minor Erdtree in Central Altus Plateau, you will find an enemy that transforms into a lion when you attack it. Defeat the lion once it has transformed to get the Larval Tear.

Larval Tear 17 – Mt. Gelmir

In the Mt. Gelmir area, to the west of the defiled Minor Erdtree, you can find a burning corpse that will transform into a worm enemy. Take them down, and you can grab the Larval Tear.

Larval Tear 18 – Consecrated Snowfield

This final Larval Tear can be found in the eastern section of the Consecrated Snowfield. Go to the Consecrated Snowfield , directly southeast of Albinauric Rise, to find an enemy stuck in the snow. You know what to do: attack the enemy, and they will transform into a Runebear, which you will have to fight and defeat in order to get the Larval Tear.
