Hollow Knight: Silksong: How To Cheese Moorwing

0

Look. Hollow Knight: Silksong can be a pretty tough game, just like its predecessor. At some point in the journey, you’re going to get skill-checked and/or roadblocked by some type of boss or challenge. For me, this happened a little earlier in the Greymoor area of the map during that wave fight with eleven different birds from Hell.

Despite that embarrassing setback I had just moments earlier with these bird brains, I soon reached an actual boss fight that I imagine is pretty hard. In fact, plenty of my colleagues that are also playing Silksong have mentioned that Moorwing, the boss at the end of Greymoor, is a beast. Well… I wouldn’t know.

As it stands, at least in the current version of Silksong, there’s a super easy way to cheese (i.e., exploit) Moorwing if you’re really that desperate. I must say, I don’t actually recommend you do this. Silksong is a really cool game, and fun/difficult boss design is a big reason for this.

But, a lot of us are Soulslike players, after all. Who among us hasn’t taken the easier way out in a FromSoftware game with a periodic cheese method here and there (or for like all of Demon’s Souls)?

If you’re truly desperate, or you just don’t want to deal with Moorwing, here’s how to take the shameful way out and never even give him a fighting chance.

This method is viable as of the publishing of this guide. However, we obviously cannot guarantee that Team Cherry will keep this in the game indefinitely. Expect this to be patched out eventually.

How To Cheese Moorwing

Here’s the thing about the Moorwing fight: it’s not in an enclosed arena like every other boss to this point. That means you can aggro him, trigger his boss fight, and then simply just… run away. That’s exactly what you should do in this instance.

As soon as Moorwing roars and his name pops up on the screen, turn around and head directly back to where you came from.

Once you reach the jetstream you just came down right before the boss arena, go ahead and ride it back upwards.

Land on the platform to the left, and keep heading in that same direction.

Just below the gap in the floor that comes from the upper area of Greymoor, you should see poor little Moorwing trying to make his way back to you. The dude just wants to play, and you’re denying him his fun. Shame.

He’ll still be aggroed, and will fly back and forth along the platform just beneath you. It’s impossible for him to hit you while this platform separates the two of you, but you can still damage him.

Each time he’s directly below you, jump and perform a downwards diagonal slash with your needle. If you time it correctly, you’ll make contact with Moorwing.

Repeat this process until he staggers and falls to the ground. After a beat, he’ll come back for more. Repeat this process three or so more times, and he’ll eventually perish.

And… well, that’s it. From here, you’re free to pass through his now empty boss arena and make your way to Haunted Bellhart. I hope you’re happy.

Video Guide

If you’re a visual learner or just want to see proof that this method exists, here’s a video guide for your convenience as well.
