Summary

  • Lies of P’s success in sales resulted in developers receiving bonuses, paid time off, and a new console.
  • The Overture DLC includes new content, ideas, and community suggestions not in the base game.
  • Neowiz rewarded Round8 Studio employees with cash, vacation, and a Switch 2 due to over three million sales.

While games selling well is something developers celebrate when it happens, it’s taken to a whole new level in Asia. Earlier this year, Stellar Blade developer Shift Up gave its employees cash bonuses and a PS5 Pro in recognition of the action game’s success, despite a year marked by layoffs and studio closures.

Now, it’s the Lies of P’s publisher’s turn. Neowiz, the company that published the Souls-like for developer Round8 Studio, is giving employees a bunch of awesome gifts after hitting a sales milestone.

The Overture DLC is made of new ideas, stuff that didn’t make it in the base game due to time constraints, and even ideas from the community.

Not only that, but they’re also getting some much-needed time off after releasing the game’s first DLC.

According to the South Korean publication The Elec (via VGC), Lies of P and its recently released expansion, titled Overture, have now surpassed three million cumulative sales, encompassing both physical and digital sales on PC and consoles.

To mark this milestone, publisher Neowiz is rewarding the Round8 Studio developers a bonus of 10 million South Korean won (around $7,300 in today’s conversion rate), two weeks of paid vacation (outside the country’s mandatory 15 days of paid vacation time), and a Switch 2!

Now those are awesome ways to incentivize developers, no? Money, paid time off and a brand-new console? That would certainly help a lot in recharging my brain if that was me.

The Lies of P Overture premium DLC was shadow dropped on June 6 and serves as a prequel to the action-RPG. Since its release, Round8 has promised to make adjustments based on player feedback. If you’re looking to pick it up, here’s a handy guide on how to start the expansion.

Boss fights give you a true sense of progression and accomplishment as each attempt leaves you with more insight.”
