Nintendo Eshop Planned Maintenance Hints At Rumored Direct Time
Nintendo has announced a planned maintenance period for the eShop, which is a significant hint at when the rumoured July 2025 Direct will take place, as the service usually goes down around the time of these events.
There have been numerous leaks about a Nintendo Direct happening at the end of July 2025, after Donkey Kong Bananza was finally out. Following the recent Pokemon Presents event and its utter lack of interesting announcements, the onus falls on Nintendo to make sure the Switch and the Switch 2 have a worthwhile year.

If there is a Nintendo Direct in July 2025, it better happen soon, as the clock is ticking. The likely timeframe may have been revealed in an announcement on the official Japanese site, which confirmed upcoming changes to the eShop, which may be related to the Direct.
The July 2025 Direct Will Likely Happen On Thursday
According to Nintendo, the schedule maintenance of the eShop for both Switch systems will take place from Wednesday, July 30, 2025 11 :00 PM to Thursday, July 31, 2025 12 :30 AM Pacific Time.
Traditionally, the eShop goes down for maintenance just before big events, with them usually happening before a Nintendo Direct. Chances are, this will accommodate any games that will shadow-dropped, as well as pre-orders going up for games with release dates.
Considering that games like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment are still lacking a release date, it’s high time that the games be given a solid launch date. The Nintendo Switch Online GameCube app is also overdue for some new announcements, as it’s only added a single new game since launch.
Whatever the case, the Switch 2 needs another Direct. The initial wave of titles is here, and it’s time to learn more about what Nintendo has in the pipeline, especially when it comes to 2026 and beyond.
