A new Magic: The Gathering card based on an item from Final Fantasy 5 has been revealed, and it has already sparked interest, due to how it’s part of an amazing combo with a different Final Fantasy Commander being introduced in the same crossover set.
The Genji Glove is a powerful recurring item in the Final Fantasy series. Each iteration of the Genji Glove has different abilities, such as the one from Final Fantasy 6 letting a character equip two weapons at once, or the one in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth letting players break the 9999 damage limit.

A new post on the MagicTCG Reddit features a spoiler for a Magic: The Gathering Genji Glove card, originally posted by Quest Daily. This card has incredible combo potential with Lightning from Final Fantasy 13, or at least, the version of her that can be used as a Commander.
Genji Glove + Lightning Is A Potential One-Shot Kill.
The Genji Glove is a 5 mana artifact that grants Double Strike to whoever equips it. It that creature attacks, it untaps, and a second combat phase begins after the first.
The reason why fans are so excited is due to how it works with Lightning, Army of One. Not only is Lightning a 3/2 Legendary Creature with First Strike, Trample, and Lifelink, but if she deals combat damage to a player, then all her owner’s sources of damage are doubled until their next turn.
So, if the player gets Lightning on the field and equips the Genji Glove, she deals three damage, then six (from the doubled damage from the second hit of Double Strike), then untaps, and when the second combat phase begins, she deals twelve damage, and then twenty-four. This is a total of forty-five damage, which will one-shot most players, either through direct damage or Commander damage.
Obviously, the player actually needs to pull off this combo, as their opponents will prioritize either nuking Lightning or the Genji Glove. It’s also possible to block Lightning with something bulky, which also stalls the combo. However, if she can land a hit, then her victory is assured.
